Os membros do corpo docente de enfermagem dos estabelecimentos de ensino superior comunitários são essenciais para a continuação e o crescimento da profissão de enfermeiro. Cada perda de um membro do corpo docente de enfermagem representa uma perda ainda maior para a prática da enfermagem no sistema de saúde. Investigações anteriores documentaram a escassez grave e inter-relacionada de profissionais de enfermagem e de docentes de enfermagem. Este estudo fenomenológico explora os temas subjacentes às decisões tomadas pelos educadores de enfermagem no sentido de abandonarem a prática do ensino e apresenta estratégias para preservar e reforçar a posição do corpo docente de enfermagem na faculdade comunitária.
