This book is a collection of forty poems- forty being a biblical number. A quote from scripture introduces each poem from which the work gets its inspiration. Biblical imagery is used throughout. In 'The Trellis' a grandmother and a granddaughter share the faith ('blood-related not once but twice...thanks be to a sacrifice.)' Jesus is the Living Water in a poem about a Roman aqueduct ('Je Crois, I Believe'). The friendship between a knight and his squire is a 'smooth gold coin' in the poem, 'Thoughts on Cervantes’ Don Quijote de la Mancha.' While the themes are varied, they all point to Jesus Christ and the Gospel.
