Este livro, escrito no outono de 2013, enfoca os aspectos geopolíticos, geoeconómicos e de análise de risco da crise síria. O presente estudo combina factos amplamente aceites sobre os objetivos táticos e estratégicos das potências globais na região com uma série de hipóteses sobre possíveis objetivos ocultos e cenários de intervenção militar. Os cenários de intervenção e redesenho das fronteiras são construídos de forma a se adequarem às prioridades e interesses geopolíticos, levando também em consideração os pontos fortes e fracos dos principais atores regionais e a experiência histórica relevante na região. Na primeira parte do livro (capítulos A a E), é apresentada e analisada brevemente uma série de cenários relativos às prioridades e objetivos estratégicos e aos interesses conflitantes ou convergentes dos principais atores geopolíticos da região (EUA, Israel, Reino Unido, Rússia e Alemanha). Na segunda parte (capítulo F), é apresentado e analisado resumidamente um roteiro para o estabelecimento de uma Nova Ordem na região, no contexto dos objetivos geopolíticos convergentes e divergentes dos principais atores na crise síria.
