A Estrada de Ferro Goias foi um marco na cidade de Anapolis, decisiva em sua modernização principalmente por ser nesta cidade o ponto terminal de seus trilhos. Sua trajetória foi marcada por interrupções em sua construção e por crises que culminaram na retirada dos trilhos do centro de Anápolis em 1976. Os trabalhadores que se dedicaram a construção, manutenção e operação da ferrovia passaram por muitas dificuldades até alcançarem os benefícios da CLT,e as mulheres embora em numero reduzido se fizeram presentes no ambiente ferroviário. A crise do sistema ferroviário em todo país, a convivência entre o meio urbano e a estrada de ferro e principalmente o jogo de interesses políticos e pessoais transformaram a ferrovia de 'símbolo de modernidade' a 'empecilho ao desenvolvimento da cidade'.
