This novel, 9.OH!, is speculation of what would happen this time - if tectonic plates sixty miles out in the Pacific Ocean again 'slipped' as in 1700. Then only oral traditions handed down in poignant voices marked the mayhem. Though there was no written record, salted trees miles inland off the Washington coast and an inner beach of salted stumps along the Oregon Coast were papered by nature. These sites matched the Japanese timeline of vast death without a quake: the 'orphan tsunami.'Many Earth scientists brought linking discoveries through tenacious digging, if you will, to piece together evidence of this mammoth geology puzzle. Pertinent government agencies, responsible for public safety, have drilled first responders and logistical planners east of the Cascades in several scenarios. Communications heralding the appropriate transportation will be vital.A seaplane picking up a stat patient in Tillamook Bay; a barge transporting food, water and clothing from the Tri Cities to survivors in Portland, Oregon and Vancouver, Washington; a C-130 extracting pallets of supplies to Mendocino; Sikorsky helicopters fighting fires in areas the tsunami did not reach; a dredge removing a collapsed bridge in Newport, Oregon to re-open the port; a Chinook helicopter responding with a load of diesel fuel to a backup hospital generator.Towns with the most geological stability will be set up to receive survivors of the nearest coastal towns. Schools, collages, churches and city parks (with Quonset hut foundations installed just below the sod) will hold rescued survivors, while those seriously injured will fill hospitals and triage facilities. Possible orphans, too young to know their names, will be housed in elementary schools designated for the towns in which they were found. As the fires are being put out, the most seriously injured medivaced and water and food brought to the most desperate along the coast, re-building will commence. Small planes will be equipped with ground sensing machines to map roadways - determining the extend of repairs needed. The most advanced underwater imaging will be employed to identify new obstructions in port channels. Biomass plants will be created to turn the destruction into foundational energy to re-build.Most important will be the realization that what people have seen other people do to help is the common link in a time when everything was being torn apart.
