After 85 years, I’ve realized the simple truth that my family and friends are an integral part of my happiness. I regret that I have often, foolishly, pursued fame and money at the expense of my genuine happiness. I also discovered my joy in life when working hard to overcome challenges and adversity caused by unforeseen events, destiny, or divine providence. I believe the remainder of my life should be devoted to the happiness of others instead of my own. I intend to maintain my physical and mental strength in order to devote myself to others, especially my wife of 60 years, my three children, their spouses, and five grandchildren. As the main part of my retirement, I am writing, reading and publishing. I enjoy tending a garden that is thriving with vegetables and citrus fruits. I also love to travel around the world with a particular fondness for the beautiful mountains and Buddhist temples in my beloved country, Korea.
