Квадратичная задача назначения (QAP) может применяться в самых разных областях, таких как проектирование размещения объектов, составление расписаний, анализ статистических данных. Одним из наиболее популярных приложений QAP является проблема раскладки виртуальной клавиатуры одним пальцем. Смартфоны и персональные цифровые помощники (PDA) стремительно развиваются, чтобы легко использовать такие технологии, как электронная почта, текстовые сообщения. В последнее время КПК и смартфоны используют виртуальные клавиатуры для ввода текстовых документов вместо обычных аппаратных клавиатур. В данной диссертации анализируется раскладка клавиатуры с двумя пальцами-стилусами для разработки лучшей раскладки клавиатуры в этой новой среде. Модель QAP для данной задачи, разработанная Mete & Ağpak (2012), линеаризована и разработана процедура генетического алгоритма. Разработанные методы решения применяются для поиска новой раскладки виртуальной клавиатуры для турецкого языка. Найденная двухпальцевая виртуальная раскладка клавиатуры сравнивается с F- и QWERTY-клавиатурами на основе теста на удобство использования, частоты ошибок, скорости набора текста и факторов обучения.
