Это перекрестное сравнительное исследование проводилось в период с января по апрель 2014 года. Мы изучали два различных культурных контекста: Норвегия как страна с низким уровнем распространенности ВИЧ/СПИДа и Южная Африка как страна с высоким уровнем распространенности. Целью исследования было изучение взаимосвязи между знаниями, установками и рискованным сексуальным поведением, связанным с ВИЧ/СПИДом. В качестве теоретической основы мы использовали модель KAP. Результаты показали, что норвежские студенты имели более высокий уровень знаний и более позитивное отношение к ВИЧ/СПИДу по сравнению с южноафриканскими студентами. В Осло возраст был статистически значимым предиктором использования презервативов, в то время как в Кейптауне количество сексуальных партнеров было важным предиктором использования презервативов. Это исследование может послужить критикой теоретической базы, которую мы использовали. Культурный взгляд на глобальную эпидемию ВИЧ/СПИДа выгоден, но в будущих исследованиях более сложные модели будут более подходящими для объяснения различий в концепциях и мотивах людей.
