На протяжении всей истории человечества женщины подвергались насилию, дискриминации и маргинализации. Эти проблемы усугубляются патриархальными системами, существовавшими на протяжении веков и подкрепленными общественными нормами и ожиданиями. В данном исследовании проводится сравнительный анализ текста Этвуд 'Рассказ служанки' (1985) и его балетной адаптации, представленной Ecole De Dance Anick Macconnel на Международном чемпионате танца Fever (2019). В работе также исследуются неизбежные изменения в повествовании, которые происходят при адаптации романа к другим жанрам, с акцентом на балетную интерпретацию. В центре внимания данного исследования - классификация 'Рассказа служанки' как произведения спекулятивной фантастики, действие которого разворачивается на фоне апокалипсиса и призвано осветить повсеместное угнетение, характерное для исследуемого общества. Для глубокого анализа этих двух текстов в исследовании используется несколько теоретических рамок.
