Warum schauen Frauen Horrorfilme? An wissenschaftlichen Erörterungen dieses kontroversen Genres und seiner Zielgruppe mangelt es nicht - doch etwas fehlt: Die Sichtweise des Publikums, vor allem die der Nutzerinnen. In der vorliegenden ethnographischen Studie geht Solveig Wrage gemeinsam mit sieben Frauen im Alter von 14 bis 33 Jahren der Frage nach, worin die Faszination und die Bedeutung des Horrorfilms für seine Zuschauerinnen liegt. Das Besondere daran: Die methodische Kombination von teilstandardisiertem Leitfaden-Interview mit einer Struktur-Lege-Technik zur (Re-)Konstruktion Subjektiver Theorien ermöglicht es, die Perspektive der Nutzerinnen selbst sichtbar zu machen und sie somit endlich als die Expertinnen anzuerkennen, die sie letztlich tatsächlich sind.
