אגרתרבי שמשון מאסטרופליא הי'דזצוקלה'העם תרשימים וביאורים בצבע כתב סת'םהספר מנוקדסוד גדול ונורא, וכתוב שם שכל מי שמעיין בסוד הנפלא והנורא הזה על מכונו, אפילו פעם אחת בשנה, ובפרט בערב פסח, מובטח לו שינצל באותה שנה מכל מכשול וממיתה משונה, ושום אדם לא ימשול בו, וכל אויביו יפלו תחתיו, והוא על במותימו ידרוך, ובכל אשר יפנה יצליח ובכל עסקיו ירויח, עד ביאת הגואל אמן סלההרב שמשון בן פסח מאוסטרופולי היה רב ומקובל, נולד בקוריץ בווהלין בשנת ה’ש'ס (1600) בערך, ונרצח בג’ באב בעת פרעות גזרות ת'ח 1648 בעיר פולונהאימו הייתה בתו של רבי שמשון בן בצלאל ליווא, אחי המהר'ל מפראגרבי שמשון הוא אחד מגדולי המחדשים בתורת הקבלה, שלא עסקו רק בפרשנות לדברי קודמיהם אלא גם חידשו חידושים רבים שאין להם מקור בספריהם של מקובלים קדומים יותר. חידושים אלו, לדבריו ולדברי תלמידיו, הם תוצאה של גילויי מגיד: מלאך ממרום שגילה לו סודות התורה. כך מתדמה רבי שמשון לרבי יצחק סגי נהור ורבי יצחק לוריא שחידשו אף הם חידושים רבים בקבלה, על פי גילוי אליהו הנביא. רוב חידושיו בקבלה כרוכים בגימטריות. לדוגמה, מספר האותיות בשמותיהם של כל האבות (אברהם יצחק יעקב) מצד אחד ושל כל האמהות (שרה רבקה רחל לאה) מצד שני הוא 13 (י'ג) שהוא מספרן של י'ג מידות של רחמים. גם הגימטריה של 'אחד' היא 13, ולדבריו זה נובע מכך שהאבות והאמהות היו אלו שהפיצו בעולם את יחודו של ה’, ואם מחברים את מספר האותיות של האבות והאמהות, יהיה המספר 26, שהוא הגימטריה של השם המפורש. בספריו מופיע פעמים רבות הביטוי 'והוא רחום יכפר עוון' בהטיות שונות, כאשר נראה שמחד רצה לגלות את סודות הקבלה, ומאידך חשש מפני סכנות, רוחניות כפיזיות, העלולות לבוא כתוצאה מגילוי הסודותרבי שמשון חיבר אגרת הנחשבת כבעלת סגולה בייחוד בערב פסח ולפי המסורת מי שקורא אותה מובטחת לו שמירה מפורעניות לכל השנה. איגרת זו נדפסה ברבות ממהדורות המחזורים וההגדות של פסח. האיגרת מנוסחת כמכתב תשובה לרבנים שביקשו פירוש למאמר סתום המיוחס באיגרת לאר'י. המאמר עוסק בשמות המלאכים שהופקדו על הכאת המצריים בעשר מכות מצרים, ועל פיו מלאכים אלו הם האחראים גם על גאולת ישראל בעתיד. רבי שמשון מבאר באיגרת את המאמר על פי גימטריה של שמות המלאכים. כמו כן ביאר באיגרת על פי הקבלה את הסימן דצ'ך עד'ש באח'ב
