当时的文字我起名《漂泊者日记》， 那时中国外出的人员还很稀少，我企图用我的真实经历给国内的人们，讲述海外华人奋斗的故事。三十几年来这些故事，零零星星发表在各种媒体上。有朋友便建议我把这些文字整理成回忆录出版，但是越整理，我越不敢把印成书了。原来回忆录是最难写的一种体裁，回忆录是最讲真话的文体，刚从充满谎言的文革时代过来，心里还充满对讲真话的恐惧，于是放弃了出版的念头。大人物的回忆录，是历史长河里的洪流，但却常常会卷入泥沙，浑浊了历史的真实。像我们一类的小人物，只是奔腾历史长河中飞溅的水花，水花是不显眼的，但她仅仅在阳光下一闪，便记忆下历史最真实的片刻。从这点感觉出发，我剩余的大量素材，以散文的文体，讲述着旅欧华人（包括自己）的故事，集在了《七十年变迁·张甲林回忆录》集子中出版 。
