Amory returns to America in the third and final chapter, where he struggles to fit into the post-World War I society. The book is a reflection of the ’Lost Generation’ of the 1920s, a group of young people who were demoralized by the destruction of the war and the social changes that followed. Through Amory’s experiences, Fitzgerald examines themes of love, loss, and identity, creating a moving and potent piece of fiction.
