Selección de poemas de Rumi. Jalal al-Din Rumi, nació en Balkh el 30 septiembre de 1207. Su nombre propio era Muhammad, Jalal al-Din y más tarde 'Khudawandagar', ('Señor').En su poesía usó el seudónimo 'Khamush' ('Silencioso') y desde el siglo XV pasó a ser conocido como 'Mawlawi', término que derivaba de su título más temprano 'Mulla-yiv rum', 'El maestro erudito de Anatolia'. Sus discípulos, como Ahmad Aflaki lo llamaron 'El misterio más grande de Dios' (sirr Allah al-a ’zam), mientras que el mundo de oratoria persa generalmente se refiere a él como 'Mawlana' . En occidente donde su fama se ha extendido desde el siglo XIX es generalmente conocido como Rumi.
