This latest work is far more casual in content than in times past, including letters not originally intended for publication, but upon review, the author thought: Why the hell not? Beyond the epistolaries, lotsa food, which is more usual, including but not limited to chocolate, pancakes, waffles, Milky Ways, sweet potatoes (or yams if you prefer), fish and plastic fish, Fizzies, Potassium Citrate, mangos, pizza, piazzas and chukkas, the latter of which you can only eat at times of extreme stress, but why you would do that, I don’t know. If you know, send me a note. My address is: Ricky @ 105 Fidelity Street Apt. B-35 Carrboro, North Carolina 27510. Don’t forget to include the apartment number. The mailman can get really testy if there is no apartment number listed.

    K D Halliwell
The ambiguously titled Love Bites is the debut offering from K D Halliwell, a Milton Keynes based author who describes the collection as a document of her twenties. Original and with a format that stands out from the ordinary, it is proving particularly well-received by those who “don’t normally like poetry”. Originally written by hand, the author has traversed a fine line betw...

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

Swollen seas, erotic monsters, Greek passion gone Latin, deftlyThis 1st-century AD Latin version of the earlier Greek epic features exotic lands, wondrous monsters and a sea voyage over swells of young love. Valerius Flaccus lent sharp Roman refinements and erotic passion to the tale, which are skillfully sustained in this careful and appealing modern translation in English ver...

  • A Glorious Gallop
    Ricky Garni
One day I saw an old guy with a poodle filling up his gas tank, the poodle sitting patiently in the driver’s seat as he committed to a full tank. It was a hot day in November, and the poodle was panting furiously. I realized at this moment that it was my duty to write at least three hundred poems about it, and I did at that, plus a few more, and here you have them. As you perus...

  • Two% Butterscotch

A year that begins in November and ends with October. Although you cannot meditate on fun, this book is clearly about that, I mean, the first poem even says so right there. But who cares about fun? Well, we all do. OK. But as with all recipes, one must add one and a half cups of grief, a pinch of Howdy-Do and a tablespoon of What Gives? and you have got yourself some good ol’ t...

My first collection to be written in first draft with typewriters only. I recommend it, and with great enthusiasm, and with this I offer my sincere and heartfelt thanks to the designers and makers of yesteryear’s Royal, Groma, Smith Corona, Olympia, Olivetti, Rheinmetall, Voss, Erika, Triumph, and RC Allen typewriters, whose fleet of finger joywork machinery made dull work less...
