This volume presents two dramatic works of the sage of Yasnya Poliana: 'And a Light Shineth in the Darkness' and 'The Living Corpse.' The first of these dramas was left incomplete in manuscript form. The first four acts, indeed, are carefully worked out, but the fifth act appears in the form of a synopsis. The other drama, having found its way to the European and the American stage, is better known to the English-speaking public and is offered in this volume in the form of an unexpurgated translation of the original text.' [Facsimile reprint of the 1920 Russian Authors' Library edition.]
