El entumecimiento subjetivo, como categoría alternativa de análisis social, permite leer las realidades sociales contemporáneas y reconocer aquello que bloquea la visualización de horizontes posibles de cambio. Al mismo tiempo, se abre a la potencialidad de desencadenar conciencias y esperanzas que respondan a las preocupaciones sociales más sentidas. El entumecimiento se piensa para responder y resignificar el espacio psíquico límbico con sensación de desconexión en que los sujetos se encuentran cuando en el contexto prevalece lo dominante para mantener las tendencias hegemónicas. En ese sentido, este libro explora cómo las y los líderes hispanos migrantes en Estados Unidos que luchan por la reivindicación social crean espacios alternativos para desentumecerse y desalinearse del sistema dominante. 10
