Die vorliegende Arbeit bietet eine Übersicht über Förderungsmaßnahmen des DDR-Leistungssports, besonders im Nachwuchsbereich. Da dieses vielschichtige System schwer zu fassen ist, war eine vollständige Erfassung im Rahmen dieser Arbeit nicht möglich. Daher beschränkt sich der Verfasser auf die generelle Struktur des Sports in der DDR. Die Wahl des Arbeitsthemas basiert auf regem Interesse, die komplexe Struktur des DDR-Sports zu analysieren. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auf die Betitelung „Ehemalige DDR' verzichtet, da die DDR im behandelten Zeitraum noch bestand. 3
