Nachdruck des Originals von 1898. Georg Ferdinand Helm (1851-1923) war ein deutscher Mathematiker und Professor sowie Rektor an der Technischen Hochschule Dresden. Er war ein Vertreter der Energetik, welche von dem Nobelpreisträger Wilhelm Ostwald begründet wurde. Nach dieser philosophischen Auffassung war Energie die Primärsubstanz und Materie nur eine besondere Erscheinungsform von Energie. Diese Auffassung wurde schließlich von Ludwig Boltzmann mit seiner atomistischen Vorstellung widerlegt. Retrospektiv ist dieses Werk sicherlich interessant.
