Coincidiendo con la visita realizada por Adolf Hitler a Francisco Franco en Hendaya el 23 de octubre de 1940 y las posteriores consecuencias de la dictadura franquista sobre la empobrecida, sumisa y gris España de posguerra, un grupo armado de milicianos republicanos sigue plantando cara y peleando por las libertades y derechos democráticos. Esta célula antifascista, instalada en Madrid, nos va acercando a la realidad que vivió y sufrió el pueblo español durante la guerra civil y después de terminado el conflicto. Todos los nombres, fechas y situaciones que se detallan de este grupo de milicianos son novelados, no existiendo ninguna relación entre los argumentos de esta obra y la realidad. Los personajes militares, los datos aportados y los acontecimientos bélicos que se narran sí que son recogidos de la historia más cercana y real de este enfrentamiento armado, aunque están complementados y novelados por las actuaciones y la figura de estos revolucionarios totalmente ficticios.
