Se cree que la historia está basada en la vida de Alexander Selkirk, un náufrago escocés que vivió durante cuatro años en una isla del Pacífico llamada 'Más a Tierra', ahora parte de Chile, que pasó a llamarse Isla Robinson Crusoe en 1966.Esta edición contiene 10 ilustraciones de Dino Di Lena, un reconocido artista italiano. 3
