Het schrijven van een basisstudieboek over de fysiotherapiepraktijk is een ontmoedigende taak. De uitdaging komt voort uit een basisvraag: 'Wat moet er in zo’n boek worden opgenomen? Gelukkig vind ik het antwoord van mijn studenten. Na overleg met duizenden afgestudeerden en studenten van de fysiotherapie, kwam ik op het idee om elke belangrijke specialiteit van de fysiotherapie apart uit te leggen. Het huidige boek bestaat uit tien hoofdstukken. Het eerste hoofdstuk gaat over 'Inleiding tot de fysiotherapiepraktijk', terwijl de naam van de overige negen hoofdstukken gebaseerd is op een specifieke specialiteit van de fysiotherapie. De integratie van de ’preklinische’ wetenschap met de klinische praktijk wordt in elk hoofdstuk gepresenteerd om de lezers een systematische benadering te bieden van de beoordeling, diagnose en het beheer van fysiotherapeutische aandoeningen in de praktijk. Ik ben er zeker van dat fysiotherapeuten en studenten dit boek met veel plezier zullen lezen.
