Hans Christian Andersen zählt wohl zu den berühmtesten Schriftstellern Dänemarks und wurde 1805 in Odense als Sohn eines Schuhmachers geboren. Nach dem Tod seines Vaters ging Andersen nach Kopenhagen, um als Schauspieler und Sänger sein Glück zu versuchen. Erst durch die Unterstützung des Direktors des Königlichen Theaters von Kopenhagen, bei dem Andersen viele Jahre lebte und durch die anschließende Förderung des König Friedrich VI., war es ihm möglich die Schule und anschließend die Universität zu besuchen. Andersen wurde berühmt durch seine Märchen wie das Schneeglöckchen, das hässliche junge Entlein, die Glocke und einige mehr, die in diesem Buch enthalten sind. Wunderschön erzählte Märchen für Kinder und Erwachsene. Mit einem deutsch-englischen Vokabelteil im Anhang. Überarbeiteter Nachdruck der Originalausgabe.
